The Rebranded Teacher

How to Simplify TPT Product Creation

Lauren Fulton - The Rebranded Teacher

Ready to stop rebuilding from scratch and start shipping seasonal resources at speed? We open the playbook to turn a single “magic numbers” puzzle into a full set of New Year math activities across multiple grade levels. You’ll hear exactly how we modify a cross-out template, expand the number grid, and map digits to letters to reveal a message like “Happy New Year.” Then we show how to populate the content fast by pulling problems from previous resources and using AI to draft themed word problems that you can fine-tune for clarity and rigor.

Once the content is set, we move into a publishing pipeline built for batching. We export slides as PNGs, assemble clean student and answer PDFs, and drop in terms of use across every open file in one pass. For $2 listings, we keep covers and previews aligned with a template that demonstrates the puzzle mechanic without exposing the full resource. A quick promo window at a lower price point helps jumpstart traffic and search visibility before returning to the standard price. You’ll see how this approach produced meaningful December revenue from low-cost items and, more importantly, surfaced clear data on which grades and topics actually convert.

The bigger win is strategic: small seasonal products create fast feedback loops. By launching multiple versions—multiplication, equivalent fractions, solving equations—we learn which segments of our audience respond, then focus on middle grades and multi-level skills that sell. Templates carry forward year after year by swapping the reveal text from “Happy New Year” to “2026,” “2027,” and beyond, letting us scale output without sacrificing quality. If you want a practical, repeatable system to publish more, earn data faster, and keep your store active while you build high-ticket anchors, this walkthrough is for you. If it helps, share it with a fellow TPT seller, subscribe for more step-by-step builds, and leave a review with the next seasonal theme you want us to tackle.

SPEAKER_00:

Welcome to the Rebranded Teacher Podcast. My name is Lauren Fulton. I'm a full-time teacher, author, and seller on Teachers Pay Teachers, and I help other teacher entrepreneurs grow their TPT businesses in a way that's purposeful and sustainable. So if you're looking for actionable, step-by-step ways to grow your business, you're in the right place. Let's get started. If you've ever wondered how to make your TPT products work harder for you and how to simplify the product creation process so that you can create way more resources, particularly seasonal resources, then this video is for you. I'm going to walk you through step by step. In fact, I'm just going to make some seasonal resources with you from some templates that I already have, but I'm going to be like creating a template from some other templates. Let me just show you. If you're listening on the podcast, I promise you this is one that you really want to go over and watch on YouTube. Like I'm going to try to explain the whole process as I go, but this is definitely something you want to watch on YouTube. I did an episode on this a while back talking about how I created almost 30 resources in 10 hours. And I got a lot of questions on it. And it's some things that kind of I can really only kind of show you. And so I want to show you guys how I do this. Now, first of all, I'm going to start by sharing my screen with you and I want to show you guys this product that I've created. So this resource is not on TPT. This is inside of a membership that I have. And I want to strongly discourage you from trying to copy what I'm doing here because I worked really hard on it. I would be very upset. But anyway, this particular piece of this is not completely unique to me. So there are a lot of resources like this. I'm calling it magic number, where essentially, as a student gets an answer correct, they have a specific number that they would color in on the screen. Now, most of the time this is done a little bit differently, and I'm going to show you how it's done differently, but for sure, not with this cross-out portion. A lot of times it just they answer a problem and it tells them which number to color or which letter to color. And as they color it, it creates a message or a picture or something of that nature. Almost like a color by number, but where you only color some of the numbers to reveal a hidden picture, if that makes sense. To those of you who are not watching but listening. So in this case, the magic number is two and it is going to spell a word, I believe. Looks like L and then O, probably love. Yep, it's gonna spell love. So what I'm gonna do is I want to create a New Year's resource, but I don't want to start from scratch. So I'm gonna start with a template that I have. I have a lot of cross-out templates, but there's one in particular that has a picture at the bottom. And this gives me a lot more space. So I'm not gonna use the rest of these. And these also are not on TPT, these are inside of a membership that myself and my business partner have. But I want to modify this so that I can sell this in my TPT store, but I don't want to use the color by number, I want to use magic number again. But I'm gonna call this magic numbers because they're going to be multiple numbers that they're going to have to color in. So I'm gonna remove all of this. And this is just a really great way to show how you can take a template and you don't always have to start from scratch and you can modify it. Now, if I had, let's see if I can do this here. Now I'm gonna move this up just a hair, give myself a little bit more space. And then what I'm gonna do here is I'm gonna go back into this resource where I have this really great table, and I'm gonna paste it in. And I love the size because I've already done all the work of creating this table, and it looks like looks like the border on this was a little bit better. But what I'm gonna do is I'm going to insert multiple rows. So I'm just gonna keep inserting rows. Okay, now that I've got all my rows in, I'm just gonna select this table. I'm gonna go to table design and I'm gonna do on this outside border. I do want the outside border, but I want it to be I think that's two and a quarter. And I'm gonna select that, and that looks much better. Now the other thing that I'm gonna do real quick is I'm gonna do control find, then I'm gonna hit these three dots and do replace. This is a template that I originally created in 2024, but it is now 2025, and so I'm going to replace anywhere where it says 2025. A lot of times in this case, it would have been really simple to just come down here and change it from a four to a five, but a lot of times I have multiple pages, and so I don't want to have to do this over and over again. So now what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna come in here and I'm gonna have six numbers. So I'm gonna have the number one and maybe even eight numbers. Let's do eight numbers because there might be some that aren't used. Three, seven, four, eight, and then five, and let's make this one two, and let's make this one six. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. And now what I want to do is I just want to make sure that one number and only one number is crossed through. And there may be a couple, like one and five, that don't get crossed through. So ones and fives will not get crossed through, but we want to make sure for everything else, only one number is crossed out. So my magic numbers are going to be every number except one and five. I really want to double check here, make sure some of these are not going through. Sometimes my eyes deceive me. Okay, so now what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna clear off this whole board and I'm gonna make it say happy new year, is what I'm gonna have it say. So, in order to keep this pretty easy for me, what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna choose one number at a time. So H A P P Y, and I can move this around if I need to, but I'm gonna start with putting the H here. A is going to be the number two. So we'll do H is the number seven. So we're gonna do seven, seven, seven. And then I'll also let it be a W. Okay, that's about as close as I can get. You know what? Actually, let's do this. That looks like a W. Six is going to be E. We'll do six B E. And so I'm gonna do six, six, and I'm gonna do a easier to fit in. And then my E maybe here. And right now I'm just kind of guessing at where this is going to be. I can move the letters around. I'm just gonna do one space apart. So I'm gonna do E here. Okay, now that I've got that, I'm gonna go through real quick and I'm going to quickly do this with the rest until I've got all the letters that are spelling out Happy New Year. And then I'll show you how I rearrange this and then how we create multiple resources from this very quickly. Okay, so now that I've got these on here, what I'm gonna do is I am going to center them. And like I have three spaces over here, and I have four over here. So there's not a whole lot that I can do about that, but I'm just gonna move it over one and just start repeating. Here we go. Design. And then three over here and three over here. So it's about as centered as it's going to get. So now that I've got this, I'm just gonna go in and I'm gonna fill in with the two numbers that I didn't use. So fives and ones. Okay, so now that I'm finished with this, all I have to do is I can duplicate this over and over and over again and create multiple resources for different grade levels. So the easiest way to do this is I actually can utilize resources that I've already created to make some of these seasonal items. So, for example, right now I have been working on some multiplication resources. So I can take a lot of the problems that I already have and I can just copy and paste them in. With the exception being I'm gonna go into Chat GPT. I'm gonna ask it to write five New Year's themed word problems for two by two digit multiplication. So I'm gonna copy and paste that. And so all I have to do now is put the answer here. And then for a lot of the rest of these, I can literally just go in and I already have the answer of 7.5. So I don't even have to get my calculator out. I can go down and I can do the next one. Looks like that one didn't get finished. 56 times 21. I didn't write the answer to that one, so I'll have to calculate that. These are not resources that are finished, by the way. These are resources that I started and I haven't finished them yet. And then that one is definitely not 30. So we will have to go in and key that. But you can see where if I hadn't already, if I had already keyed it, it would have been so much easier. So now I can just go in, change the font. We're gonna do the same type, same type of thing. Very, very simple. And we'll continue to do this. But then once I've finished with this, I'm gonna show you I can duplicate this slide. And instead of using it, so this one would be multiplication, and the next one, I could do equivalent fractions, or I could do fractions. Normally I would do something a little bit different, like I might do solving equations and I might pull from another resource that I've recently done and just drag and drop problems in. If I'm gonna do one for the same grade level, like in this case, two digit by two digit multiplication would line up with equivalent fractions, then I would change the puzzle in here. So instead of saying happy new year, it might create a firework or it might do a picture, or it might say something else. It might say, you know, 2026. I might do one of those. I might do one with a big 2026 and with equivalent fractions. And so then this way, once I have this template done, it's just literally six problems. So I just change out the six problems, I do one per grade level. So I can do one for fourth, one for fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, algebra one. So with just changing out six problems, and those six problems are problems that I can pull from another resource that I've already created and maybe just change up a couple of the word problems so that they're themed. I can very, very quickly create these resources. Now, once I'm done, I'm just going to export these. And somebody asked me the other day, because I keep everything all in one page. So I would duplicate this to make the student slide and just very quickly, this is what else I love about these is that the answer key, I make the answer key first, and then I just go in and delete the answers so that I have the student copy. And so someone asked me, like when I make all of these in one spot, because I keep them all in one place that way I can just quickly duplicate it and I'm not having to open up a whole bunch of things. Now I only do this for seasonal resources when I'm trying to make them really fast, and for things that are only like one page or two pages. But the way that I export these is I just export them all as PNG images. And I'm just gonna give this a random name real quick, just so that I can show you. I'm gonna export that. And then I go to the file and I take like these two right here. So that would be one resource and I create a PDF and then I title it. And then I go to the next one and I create a PDF and then I title it. Then I go in and I open them all up at the same time and I add in all of my terms of use pages at the exact same time. So edit. I don't use like flat pack for this, edit organized pages, and I just paste in my terms of use pages. So I have all the PDFs open, edit, organize, and I do, and then I paste, copy, paste, go to the next one, edit, organize, copy, paste, and then I have all of my PDF documents that are ready to go for TPT. If you don't know what I'm talking about, let me find a terms of use, generic terms of use. So I would open this up, edit, organize pages, and then that's done. And then I would go into the next one and I would add them in, and then I just save them. And I save them as I save these individual files as whatever it is. So this would be like multiplication new years activity. And then I create my covers and previews, and I can do those super quickly because I create a template, and all I have to do is change out the pages in the template and change out the cover or change out the title. So that is how I create multiple resources. I will continue to work on this today. I'm gonna finish up that one and then I'm gonna go straight into the next one. I'm just gonna copy and paste problems over. And by the end of the day, and it won't even take me the whole day. It'll take me maybe an hour to create all the PDFs using that one template that I already created that says happy new year. And that will be for finishing up fourth grade and then doing fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, algebra one. I'll have six New Year's resources. I will then take about 10 minutes to change out from saying happy new year to saying 2026. And then I will create six new resources in another hour. So within two and a half hours, I will have 12 resources that are ready to be uploaded to TPT. Now I will still have to make the covers and previews for those resources, but I will use a template that I already have. So let me show you exactly what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna go in here and I'm gonna say new from template. And I have a resource that is pretty similar to this. It's this Christmas emoji math. And so all I will really have to do, like I've got this here, I've got this here, and I'll take that out and I'm gonna call it something different. So I'm gonna call it like magic number, and I'll put like a 2026 or a New Year's emoji or something right here. I'm just gonna say magic numbers. This right here will say magic numbers. I'm gonna add a little tab here that says magic numbers. And I will just change this out just ever so slightly so they can see the bottom of it and they can see what it creates. And then I'll go in here and I'll do the exact same thing. Like I will use this hand and this little line to show them how the resource works while also protecting my product so that I can show them as much of the product as possible without them being able to just take a picture or take a screenshot and use it. This is gonna be a$2 resource. So for a$2 resource, I am not gonna create a different set of thumbnails from the preview. I'm gonna make the preview and the thumbnails the same for a$2 product. And so it didn't take me long to make, it didn't cost me anything at all. I wasn't having to pay somebody to do it. So I will just make a good thumbnail andor a cup good couple of thumbnails, and I will use that as the PDF preview as well. So I'm gonna use this same template. I'll just change this from saying Christmas to saying new year's, and I'll change out the color so that it's not Christmas theme. And then we change this out, pull this off. It'll still say no prep and self-checking, and it'll say New Year's right here. I mean, it's basically it's gonna take me a few minutes. And then once I have that, all I have to do is come into this page right here, click change picture from a file and pull from that same set that I've already created. Now, what I will do on here is once I've done that, I'm gonna pull these off and make this a little bit smaller and I'm gonna start coloring some of this in. So I'll color in like an A or something like that very, very easily. Like I'm not gonna stress myself out over it, but what I'll do is I'll take, for example, say I wanted to do this spot right here, and then I'm gonna come into my format pane and I'm gonna increase the transparency like this. There we go, and there's my H. Now I'm gonna do the same thing for A so that they can kind of start to see what this is gonna say so they can see how this is going to work, they'll understand it, and it takes me just very little time to create that. That's how I would create the preview and the cover, and that's how I'd create the product, and I'm just gonna continue to do that for the word happy. And then maybe I might come down and start on new, and I would just arrange this so that they could see. Yeah, so it's not gonna take me very long to create that, and then once I've done that, they'll be ready to list. And it won't take me very long to list them at all, and that's how I create them super quickly, so that even when I come in to do the next one and I go change from a file and I put the next one in that's equivalent fractions, I might have to do some small adjustments to this, some very small adjustments, but not much. And you can see that's not gonna line out perfectly with the hand and everything. I'll just have to make this a little bit smaller and I say voila. It still needs a little bit of it still needs a little bit of tweaking, but you get the general idea. It will not take me very long at all to kind of move that around. And this is already there, everything is already there, and I'm just having to go through and switch these out. So I keep the messaging the same here for a$2 product, like everything is gonna be the same. I'm literally just gonna change out the page. That's it. So yeah, that's how I create these really quickly. It does not have to be complicated. Now, am I gonna tell you that like with a$2 product like this, that you're going to make a lot of money? No, like I'm not gonna tell you that at all. But this is a really easy way, particularly if you have a way to market your resources to get buyers to go to your store. So, one of the things that I've noticed for me is that when I create a new resource, people want to go see the new resource. So I send an email and I say, This is what's new, especially if it's seasonal, like New Year's. So right now it's a Saturday. I'm plan on having these listed by Monday, so that I can send an email out on Monday and say, Hey, go grab these resources really quickly. I might even tell them because schools that are not gonna be in session on Monday, I might tell them, hey, if you go grab them today, then they're a certain percentage off, right? Go grab them really quickly. This can help them climb the rankings a little bit faster to maybe get them a little bit more visibility in TPT search. So I might send an email and say instead of paying$2, you'll get them for$1.50 if you go buy them today or in the next 48 hours. And then I bump them back up to regular price. And this is just a really simple way. If you want to create something and you want to roll out something new to your people, but you're wanting to do it really quickly. Now, this is not a great strategy for long-term stocking your stores on TPT. Yes, this can get you some sales, but this is like a dollar fifty, two dollar product. This is not an expensive product and it's not super unique. So doing this is a great strategy for quickly getting resources into your store, but for long-term stability on TPT, you are still gonna want to focus on higher ticket resources that are gonna get you a little bit better of long-term results because buyers are gonna be willing to spend more and they're gonna want to come back to purchase something specifically for from you. But I can tell you that I did this in the month of December. Now I was running a promotion and for like an entire week, these resources were only a dollar. So I didn't make a lot of money on these, but let me see how many did I make? Let me pull this up real quick so I can tell you. But for the month of December, on those Christmas resources that I made super quickly, and there were 13 of them. So 13 Christmas resources that I sold for between one and two dollars, just depending on when they purchased them. If they purchased them during the promotion, it was a dollar. If they purchased them after the promotion, it was two dollars. For those 13 products, I made$412.23 for them in the month of December. Now, am I gonna make that much in New Year's? I do not know because I don't have an entire month to sell these. So that part is kind of a bummer, but from December 8th was when those resources went live. And then of course, schools were out of session by December 23rd. So for a couple of weeks, having those resources there that they can purchase and next year, I've got the template already made. So, like next year, all I have to do is come in and everything that says happy new year next year, I can still sell the ones that say 2026. I can update them to just say 2027, and I can make more resources from those. So the way I look at it is if I make six resources this year that say happy new year, and six resources that say 2026, next year I can come in, I can change those same resources that say 2026. them to say 2027 and then I can really quickly create six more resources from those templates. Like I can create six more that say 2027 and I can create six more that say happy new year. So now this year I've made 12 New Year's resources. Next year I have 24 New Year's resources in my store and it really doesn't take me very long to create them at all. I'm still able to drive traffic still able to say this is new to my store, these are brand new, go check out all these New Year's resources. Teachers are still able to purchase more and do whatever they want to and it didn't take me a lot of time. And that's the important part is that sometimes for these seasonal resources, if you have a store that's like mine where I'm catering to fourth grade teachers or even sometimes third grade teachers all the way up to high school teachers, it really pays to kind of have small resources that don't take very long to create. Because if I were to create say a$3 product and it took me even an hour to create one each one of those$3 products, then making 12 resources and then having to create the covers and the previews for them, that would be something that would take me honestly an entire week. Like it really would it would take me a whole week to create 12 resources. And that's not that much. It would take me a whole week to spend 12 hours on product creation like an entire week. And I know that doesn't seem like a lot to a lot of people but my TPT store is just a fraction of what I do. Like I also have a membership with a business partner. I have another membership for TPT sellers. I'm doing podcasts, YouTube videos and I have my own website that I sell my resources on. There are a lot of different things that I'm juggling and I know that there are a lot of different things that you are juggling too. And so sometimes just having these small resources that you can create really quickly, put them out there can give you a really good return on your investment because you never know when one of them is going to sell really well and the other one's not. So for example with those 13 products that I made in the month of December one of those resources sold 98 times and another one sold six times. Now not only does that just give me a lot of data in terms of like what people want, but it gives me a lot of data moving forward about my audience. So I can tell you that the two resources that sold the least one was a resource that was specifically for like algebra one and algebra two. Another one was a resource that was specifically for third grade math. So I can look at these resources and say I can tell which part of my audience is responding the most to what I'm selling and I can take that data and I can apply it to resources moving forward. So I know when I'm creating a New Year's resource now that I'm not going to create something that is specific to third grade, probably not going to create something that's specific to upper high school. I'm going to focus on creating resources that can span multiple grade levels. So for example like solving equations or something like that. So I'm going to focus on creating resources that can span multiple grade levels and I'm also going to focus more on the middle grades because those are the ones that seem to sell the best. So by creating a wide variety of products all at the same time for seasonal resources I can get a lot of data back really quickly which is super helpful. But also if you're a new seller it gives you multiple places where you have an opportunity to show up. So rather than just showing up for one or two specific keywords for New Year's or for Valentine's Day or for St. Patrick's Day, you can show up for 12 different sets of keywords for St. Patrick's Day or for end of the school year or for back to school. And this is going to give you a lot of data moving forward for your seasonal items and it's also going to tell you it's also going to give you multiple opportunities to show up in TPT search. And this is just a really great way to do it by finding something that you can quickly duplicate, replicate and make for multiple grades or for multiple topics. If you listened to this via podcast, there's still a lot of really good information but I'm going to promise you that you definitely definitely want to go watch this on YouTube. This was a highly edited version in order to make it something that you could listen to. But I'm telling you watching the version on YouTube is going to be 100% worth it. You can find the link to the YouTube video down in the comments. Thanks so much for being here you guys. I'm wishing you all the best in 2026 and I'm going to see you right back here next week.
