Let's talk about four strategies for fast growth on Teachers Pay Teachers. If you're wanting to grow your TPT business quickly, this is what you want to do. I've been selling on Teachers Pay Teachers for over eight years now. I have one store that is mostly passive these days and it's in the top 1% of sellers. And I have another store that is newer. It's kind of like a hobby store for fun. It's in the top 15% for stores on TPT. So I know a little bit about growing your TPT business and I'm going to help you do that. Let's start with number one.
Speaker 1:The number one tip for fast growth on TPT, especially if you're new, is taking advantage of creating seasonal resources. So I'm talking Christmas resources, st Patrick's Day resources or resources for current events, holidays, significant dates, things like that. Seasonal resources are a great way to get found on TPT because, while in some markets they're still kind of saturated, they're not quite as saturated as, say, like an evergreen resource. That's just about like writing prompts. Getting to rank for seasonal themed writing prompt like a Christmas fifth grade writing prompt resource is going to be easier than being able to rank for just a normal fifth grade writing prompt resource or writing prompt activity in general. So the more specific that you can be, the better. Most of the time, now, there is such a thing as going too specific, okay. So I'm going to give you a little hint on this. If you're wanting to create for example, we're in the holiday season right now If you're wanting to create a New Year's activity, perhaps a great type of activity to create might be to create a third grade math New Year's activity or a third grade math New Year's coloring, right? Being specific like that can help you get found, but you can be too specific, right. So you want to be specific in the sense that you're creating a resource that a buyer would specifically be searching for, right? So a buyer might specifically be searching for a third grade math New Year's activity, but they might not be specifically searching for a firework sparkler coloring sheet for New Year's. Does that make sense? So we want to be specific in the sense of the buyer is searching for it and we want to find little spots, little pockets where we can get found right, seasonal resources, holiday resources. That creates a lot of opportunity for us to get found, because the market's not quite as saturated there. Okay, number two bundle, bundle, bundle If you are looking to grow fast.
Speaker 1:On TPT, you want to create opportunities for buyers to purchase higher ticket resources from you. So while it's a great strategy to create, say, multiple resources and put them out as quickly as possible, we don't want to just create like 50 products that are $2 and put them in our store. We really want to focus on having a well-rounded store and creating again those opportunities for buyers to spend more money in our store. So if I'm trying to create a series of Valentine's Day resources, maybe I create three, four, five different types of Valentine's Day resources and then I bundle them all together to create an opportunity for buyers to spend more money. So if they come across that one single color by number, second grade math worksheet for Valentine's Day, that's great. But oh, by the way, I also have a really cute craftivity that could go along with this. Or I have a really cute warmup that could go along with this, something like that that you could bundle all together to give the buyer an opportunity to spend more money and to get more value at the same time. So bundle, bundle, bundle. Always be thinking about what can I create that is going to bring value to the market? What can I create that's going to allow me to be found, and then what can I create that's going to allow me to be found? And then what can I create that's going to allow me to bundle everything together into a nice neat package to create an opportunity for more growth? Okay, so, bundle, bundle, bundle.
Speaker 1:The next thing is optimizing older resources, especially if you've been on TPT for a while. This is a really big one because and I was talking to somebody about this today during a coaching call you can have tons of resources on TPT. Your oldest, most established resources are always going to be your biggest opportunities for increasing your revenue Because, guess what? They've stood the test of time, whereas your brand new resource, even though it might be better, it might be prettier, it might be something that could potentially be more popular, it just doesn't have the factor that those older resources have and that it stood the test of time. And so I, anytime you can take a resource that's older, that has even a tiny bit of traction in the market, and you can modify it to increase its conversion rate, to help it get more traffic, by fixing its search engine optimization or updating a cover. Anytime you can do something like that, that's going to be a major win for you. So if you've been on TPT for a while, you have win for you. So, if you've been on TPT for a while, you have 100, 200, 300, even 500 or more products in your store. Going back and optimizing older resources are often going to offer the biggest potential for increasing your revenue as quickly as possible.
Speaker 1:Finally, number four you need to have an actual plan. Okay, now let's talk about this Heart to heart, friend to friend. You need to have an actual plan. Okay, now let's talk about this Heart to heart, friend to friend. You need a real plan for your business. You need something that's on paper. You need to know what you're gonna be working on in the month of February, what you're gonna be working on in the month of October. You need an actual plan, and let me tell you why.
Speaker 1:The reason you need a plan in order to grow as fast as you possibly can is for two primary reasons. The first is a lot of people their strategy going into it is I'm going to do as much as I can, as fast as I can and that will make me as much money as I can possibly make, as fast as I can make it and while it sounds like a really good plan and it might even work for you for a little while, it's not a great strategy for growth on TPT. What it is is it's a really great strategy for burnout, because you're going to do as much as you can, as fast as you can. You're going to see a little bit of growth and you are going to burn, smooth out. The other thing that you're going to do is you're going to make mistakes.
Speaker 1:When you try to do as much as you can, as fast as you can, there's a lot of potential for forgetting about some of the finer details and paying really close attention to those new products that you're creating, to the search engine optimization, to the strategy that you're using to promote growth. You lose a lot of that attention to detail when you're trying to work fast. So the whole, I'm going to do as much as I can, as fast as I can, to grow as quickly as possible. Not a great strategy. You don't want to do that. You will burn out, okay, and then you'll get behind in your overall goals.
Speaker 1:The second reason you don't want to do that is because one of the major pitfalls that you'll run into as an entrepreneur is, you will get shiny object syndrome. You'll start on a task and then all of a sudden, somebody will tell you oh, I just exploded on TikTok or social media with this TikTok or this reel that I posted. So you should really try that. With this TikTok or this reel that I posted, you should really try that. And the next thing you know, instead of creating the line of seasonal activities that you were working on, or instead of starting the email marketing or whatever it was that you had planned, you're sidetracked by this shiny object syndrome because you didn't have a written down plan. Like if you had had a plan that said in the month of February, I'm gonna do these things and these are the things that I have to do, then you wouldn't have gotten that shiny object syndrome and got distracted by something that probably isn't going to move your businesses forward nearly as much as you think it will. So you really need that plan to keep you on track so you don't get distracted by things that pull you away from your goals.
Speaker 1:All right, and if you're looking for a plan, you're like, oh, that sounds really great, lauren, but I don't know what kind of plan I should be following. I've got you. I'm meeting with over 100 TPT sellers December 30th In the evening there's replays available if you can't make it live and we are going to focus on the three biggest revenue drivers for your business. That's traffic conversion and customer retention Getting those customers to keep coming back and purchase more products and we are going to pick goals custom pick goals for your business in each of those three big revenue driving areas, categories, and we are going to create, in 90 minutes, we're going to create a month by month plan to help you get where you want to be in 2025.
